Stir up the fun of food with Star Wars – The Life’s Day Cookbook

Craving Saava snacks? Or maybe Kublag Curry? Well, just because Life Day 2021 has passed doesn’t mean you can’t just enjoy all that it has to offer your taste buds. Thanks to authors Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak, and the good folks at Insight Editions, you can now cook some of the galaxy’s best holiday dishes right in your own home! With the Star Wars – The Day of Life Cookbook you will feast for days on “official vacation recipes from a galaxy far, far away”.

George Lucas first introduced us to Life Day in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special there are several moons. The wookie celebration of life has transcended the arboreal world of Kashyyk, however. The citizens of the galaxy have embraced the holiday tradition in all regions of space. Each celebration was full of love, joy, and of course, lots of food for everyone. The day of life cookbook has recipes for some of the best food concoctions, and we here at That Hashtag Show tried some of them this weekend for our… uh, your benefit.

With over 120 pages of full-color images, stories and recipes, it was hard to pick a few to try. We decided to start with the Shi-Shok Fruit Bowls as a relatively simple yet fun and visually pleasing brunch offering. The base of The day of life cookbook the snack rests (literally and figuratively) in dragon fruit. The husk, once you remove the fruit, serves as an individual serving container filled with dragon fruit, raspberries, blueberries, and cantaloupe. (Confession – we replaced the honeydew melon with cantaloupe to give the dish an even more colorful presentation.) Using the dragon fruit husk as the dish itself, however, offered an aesthetically fun take on one. simple fruit cocktail.

Then we tried Crait’s crusted cod. This dish is inspired by one of the most memorable scenes in The Last Jedi. From the salt marshes of Crait to your plate, here is this incredibly tasty seafood main course. Be careful though – if you have high blood pressure, this salty fish offering might not be for you. The preparation includes four cups full of kosher salt in which you pack the cod. Granted, you don’t actually eat the salt mixture, but the flavor it gives is certainly worth it.

Don’t bite the Wookiee

As the recipe suggests, we “don’t recommend biting a real wookie, but you can’t resist devouring these adorable little guys!” We are talking about The day of life cookbook Wookiee-Ookiees, sweet and spicy molasses cookies (nutmeg) shaped like Chewbacca, everyone’s favorite wookiee. These made a lovely addition to our Day of the Life Christmas cookie decorating party, however, if you like your molasses cookies a little more … wait … chewy you might want to turn the heat down. cooking time or reduce the cooking time just a little.

Overall the Star Wars – The Day of Life Cookbook offers many familiar recipes with tasty twists. Or, rather, the favorite dishes from the point of view of the authors. If you are a Star Wars foodie, this will make a nice addition to your cookbook collection.
