Derry’s Little Acorn’s Bookstore Named Ulster Regional Winner for 2021 “An Post Bookshop of the Year”

The five regional winners of the 2021 Postal Bookstore of the Year award were unveiled on Wednesday.

They are: Kerr’s Bookshop, Clonakilty, Cork (Munster); Little Acorns Bookstore, Derry (Ulster); Kenny Bookstore and Art Gallery, Galway (Connacht); Maynooth Bookstore, Kildare (Leinster) and The Company of Books, Ranelagh (Dublin)

Each regional winner will receive a certificate of recognition from the An Post Irish Book Awards. The winner will be nominated at the An Post Irish Book Awards on November 23, 2021 and will receive a € 5,000 prize for business services from An Post Commerce.

Each year, the annual literary event, which promotes Irish writing to the widest range of readers possible, brings together a large community passionate about books – readers, authors, booksellers, publishers and librarians – to recognize the best of the world. new and established Irish script. Talent.

The “Postal Bookstore of the Year” category was added to the award list this year to recognize the important role that independent bookstores and branches of local bookstore chains across the country play in helping their local communities find titles of their choice, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The winners of the 2021 An Post Irish Book Awards will be announced at an in-person ceremony on Tuesday 23 November at the Convention Center in Dublin. The event will also be televised live for those who cannot attend.

A one-hour special will air on RTÉ One television on Wednesday, December 8, exploring the six shortlisted books and authors for the An Post Irish Book Awards’ ‘Book of the Year 2021’, culminating in the reveal of the overall winner of this year.
